VK Commodore Headlight Focus:

Adjusters:

Headlight Adjustment on these Cars (and all Commodores) is done by positioning the Reflector inside the Headlight, unlike earlier Holdens where the entire Headlight was re-positioned. There are 2 adjusters on the left side rear of each Headlight. These are accessed from under the Bonnet. Care should be taken not to rotate the Adjusters too far anti-clockwise because the internal Headlight Positioners can come off their Threads. If this happens the ability to adjust the Headlight will be lost. You will have to remove the Headlight from the Car and remove the Glass to refit the Positioners to the Adjusters.
VK Commodore Headlights have the Reflector inside the Headlight. Rotating the Adjusters causes the Reflector to refocus the Beam. Click to Enlargen. Skye Byrnes.

Raising the Vertical Adjustment:

The Beam is raised by rotating the upper Adjuster clockwise.Try to only make clockwise turns when adjusting the vertical position to minimise the risk of the Adjusters losing their Positioners. The Beam can also be raised by rotating the lower Adjuster anti-clockwise. Try to avoid this.

The 2 Bolt Holes for securing the Headlights can be seen above the Headlight location. Click to Enlargen. Skye Byrnes.

Lowering the Vertical Adjustment:

The Beam is lowered by rotating the lower Adjuster clockwise.Try to only make clockwise turns when adjusting the vertical position to minimise the risk of the Adjusters losing their Positioners. The Beam can also be lowered by rotating the upper Adjuster anti-clockwise. Try to avoid this.

Right Horizontal Adjustment:

Set the Vertical Adjustment of the Beam first to keep the Positioners in the centre of their Threads.  To move the Beam to the right  (away from the Kerb) rotate both the upper and lower Adjusters in the anti-clockwise direction.

Left Horizontal Adjustment:

Set the Vertical Adjustment of the Beam first to keep the Positioners in the centre of their Threads.  To move the Beam to the left (towards the Kerb) rotate both the upper and lower Adjusters in the clockwise direction.

Headlight Removal:

Unplug the 5 Cable Connector at the rear of the Headlight on the Fender side. Two Bolts in the Body above each Headlight hold the Headlight in place.Remove the 2 Bolts. The Headlight is hinged on the bottom. It tips forward then lifts out. The Blinker Light will tip forward with the Headlight. It may be necessary to remove the Grill to gain full access.Three Screws hold the Grill to the Body. The Screws are located near the top Slat of the Grill. The Blinker Light is attached to the Headlight by one Screw and 2 Lugs.

Headlight Installation:

Re-attach the Blinker Light to the Headlight by the 2 Lugs and one Screw.Rest the Headlight on the hinged locators on their underside. Tip the top of the Headlight backward into position. The Blinker Light will tip backwards with it.Insert the two Bolts into the Body that hold the Headlight in place.Tighten the two Bolts. Plug the 5 Cable Connector on the Fender side back into the Headlight.
