EK MODELS

H561 introduced with the EK. Superseded by the H562 in April 1962.

The Hydra-Matic had four stages or ratios, with the first speed having two stages. This change in ratio on the first speed was gradual and changed with rpm. In the USA this transmission was called the "Roto-Hydramatic", and came in two models, the Model 5 for lighter vehicles, and the model 10 for heavier vehicles. Hence "H" for Holden, "5" for transmission model, and "61", "62", or "63" for the year. The transmission weighed 145lb (66kg) and, for 1961, had forward ratios of 3.03, 1.58, and 1.00

EJ MODELS

Same Crash box and H562 4 stage Hydra Matic as the EK
----
EH MODELS

Same Crash box as EK-EJ but HA 563 Hydra Matic 4 stage auto.

The Hydra-Matic gear ratios were modified in the EH to suit the new red motor, but still had the four stages or ratios, with the first speed having two stages. This change in ratio on the first speed was gradual and changed with rpm. This was achieved by activating a valve and filling and unfilling the torus chamber.
