TH700 Automatic Transmission:

The gearbox has 4 forward speeds (3 plus overdrive), reverse and a lockup Torque Converter.

The Gear Selector Shaft is located near the 200mm mark on the Steel Ruler. Click to Enlargen. The Oil Pressure Test Point is just above it. Photo by HQ_SS.

 

Cable Kickdown:

 

Like early model Trimatics, the kickdown is cable activated.

 

Lock-Up Converter:

The Torque Converter contains a single clutch plate similar to a manual

car. This clutch is computer engaged when the road and engine speeds reach the appropriate levels. The result is an automatic gearbox that tries to emulate the coupling efficiency of a manual.

TH700 adaption:

The v8 TH700 can bolt up to any holden v8 that has the turbo bolt pattern. If it is a trimatic pattern motor, a adaptor plate is required.
The v6 TH700 can be bolted up only with an adaptor plate. Regardless of engine bolt pattern.

Strangely enough, there is no adaptor plate available to bolt up a V6 box to a turbo pattern block, would make it a lot easier to replace busted boxes on EFI V8's, as the V6 boxes are a dime a dozen, and the V8 ones are very dear,,,,
