[edit] Bosch Hall Effect Ignition:

[edit] Description:

This is a low energy Hall Effect triggered system. The Rotor Button has an integrated Reluctor which triggers the Hall Effect Sensor under the Distributor Cap.

A signal generated by the Hall Effect Device inside the Distributor is sent to the Controller as seen in the images. The Controller then interrupts the Coil's Primary current flow generating a spark.

The Controller has alloy fins and a Power Transistor mounted in the centre. The Power Transistor switches very fast, has no parts to wear out and it controls the Coil current.

The Coil is an ordinary Oil Filled unit similar to a Bosch GT-40.

My 6 cylinder one has 6 wires going to the control box.

There is a RED / Black Pair which goes to the ignition to power the unit, probably straight from the accessory of the ignition switch.

There is 3 wires going to the dizzy.

RED / Black / Brown, which go to the sensor in the dizzy itself.

There is also 1 single brown wire which goes to the coil.

These are all the part numbers I could find for various parts of the EK80 and EK81 Bosch kits. These fitted most V8 conversions not just Holden
