These images show which V8 blocks match which gearbox bellhousing.
HG383PREM's Shed
There are 2 types of patterns. The Turbo type and Trimatic type. The images show the differences.

Straight Six Block Pattern:

All Holden Sixes from FX to VK  had the same Block Pattern.

Starfire Bolt Pattern:

These Engines have the same Bolt Pattern as all grey, red, blue and black Holden 6 Cylinder Engines.

TH700 adaption:

The v8 TH700 can bolt up to any holden v8 that has the turbo bolt pattern. If it is a trimatic pattern motor, a adaptor plate is required. The V6 TH700 can be bolted up only with an adaptor plate. Regardless of engine bolt pattern.
